ROE Dental Laboratory, a full service dental lab since the 1920’s, was experiencing growing pains in early 2015. Their production facility was too small and offered no room for expansion. They came to Ray Fogg Building Methods for help in identifying long-term solutions. After exploring several possibilities, a very desirable location was identified on East Pleasant Valley Road in Independence, OH with an existing building that Fogg believed could be transformed into ROE’s new corporate headquarters.
Fogg’s design-build strengths were put into play, goals were defined and Fogg set about to convert the highly specialized former data center into a state-of-the art dental lab and teaching facility. There were many obstacles to overcome before Fogg’s new design could be realized, including removal of large generators and battery back-up rooms filled with electrical switch gear. The biggest design challenges included turning the exterior of a high-security building into an aesthetically inviting structure to ROE’s customers while also creating an efficient and pleasant work environment for ROE’s employees. Skylights and windows were added to bring in natural light and the lab area received a complete lighting upgrade. A bright, new conference room was added to the street view of the building, giving a completely fresh look to a tired old building.
ROE’s new home was complete in May 2016 and is allowing them to grow well into their second century of business in Northeast Ohio!
